107 Protesters Arrested in Zimbabwe on March 31
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested 107 people in connection with protests orchestrated by former Zanu PF Central Committee member Blessed Geza.
Currently in hiding, Geza had called for demonstrations to demand President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation and to oppose his alleged plans for a third term in office.
Police Applaud Zimbabweans for Maintaining Peace
In a statement on Wednesday, National Police Spokesperson Paul Nyathi commended Zimbabweans for maintaining peace despite the attempted protests. He stated that the country remained stable and that law enforcement would continue to ensure order.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds the public for maintaining law and order during the recent attempts by some individuals and groups to incite violence and engage in criminal acts in the country on 31 March 2025.”
Providing an update on security, the ZRP reassured the public that the situation across the country remained calm and that police officers were stationed in strategic locations to preserve peace.
“The situation in the country remains peaceful and conducive for all socio-economic activities. The Police will continue to deploy officers in strategic positions in support of the current serene environment,” the ZRP added.

107 Protesters Arrested in Zimbabwe on March 31
Nyathi confirmed that of the 107 people arrested on 31 March, the majority of these people were arrested at Robert Gabriel Mugabe Square in Harare.
“Meanwhile, on 31st March 2025, the Zimbabwe Republic Police recorded few reports of violence and Malicious Damage to Property. The Police arrested 107 suspects throughout the country for participating in violent and unsanctioned demonstrations. The majority of these arrests were made at Robert Gabriel Mugabe Square in Harare,” the statement read.
The police also urged citizens to ignore calls for protests, warning that any acts of violence or unlawful gatherings would be met with legal action.
“The public is urged to remain vigilant and disregard social media calls to engage in violent acts or hoodwinked to join unlawful gatherings targeted at looting and other criminal acts. The law will certainly take its course on unruly elements who commit criminal acts under the guise of demonstrations,” the statement concludes.
