For the last couple of years of Joe Biden’s presidency, California Gov. Gavin Newsom spent a lot of time touring the country (and the world) to try and present himself as the viable alternative in the event Biden dropped out of the race.
Newsom visited several red states, took aim at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (who in turn was not having it), and even went so far as to huddle with political consultants who had previously worked on national campaigns to form a game plan for a possible 2024 run.
In the end, Newsom’s attempt to portray himself as next in line for the presidency fell way short, with Biden endorsing his Vice President, Kamala Harris, in the summer of 2024 after he withdrew from the presidential race in what would be another failed run for Harris.
Now, Newsom has his eye on 2028 and is predictably making moves, including starting a new podcast, that might give middle of the road voters the impression that he’s a moderate rather than the far leftist he actually is.
That was never more apparent than during his recent sit-down interview with conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, where Newsom – who has long been a staunch ally of the Alphabet Mafia – appeared to take a more centrist tone on the issue of transgender athletes in women’s sports.
As my RedState colleague Brandon Morse documented at the time, Newsom was being two-faced on the matter, saying one thing about his position when his track record tells us the exact opposite.
Not surprisingly, another claim Newsom made during his back and forth with Kirk has been shown to be outright false. It centers around Newsom declaring “not one person ever in my office has ever used the word ‘Latinx'” and acting like he didn’t know from where the word came.
Except his office has used it quite a bit:

Not only that, but Newsom has, too – numerous times. Here are a few examples:
Children in Poverty:
31% Latinx
26% Black
14% AAPI
12% WhiteThis is the result of unequal access to opportunity. https://t.co/ipLVJdv1sL

#COVID19 disproportionately impacts the Latinx community.
Rising rates in the Central Valley are concerning. CA is making $52M available to increase testing, contact tracing and quarantine efforts, and sending strike teams to 4 counties with increased cases and hospitalizations.

“Voting is an emotional experience but we take it for granted.”
Governor @GavinNewsom teamed up with global Latinx superstar and activist @iambeckyg to urge eligible Gen Zers, Millennials, Gen Xers & the Latinx community to vote in the upcoming election. https://t.co/rNePvjSQHL

To reiterate a point Brandon made, “Gavin is no centrist. He’s a snake, and one that will play a very long political game in order to achieve power.” All of which are the exact reasons why he should never be trusted to lead this country. Ever.
