Georgia Southern Freshman Football Player Passes Away After Fight with Cancer

Georgia Southern football player Tay McKibbins has passed away.

McKibbins has been battling cancer. The Atlanta graduated from high school early and enrolled at Georgia Southern. He was an offensive lineman, who was super talented.

Georgia Southern released this statement from head coach Clay Helton:

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and teammate Tay McKibbins,” head coach Clay Helton wrote. “Tay lost his battle with cancer this morning and our thoughts and prayers are with his family in Atlanta. He was taken away from us far too young, but his memory will always be etched on our hearts. He is forever an eagle. Love you, Tay!”

The Eagles began Spring Ball on Tuesday, and they will continue with closed practices on Friday and Saturday as the team mourns the loss of McKibbins.
