More often than not, our supposed intellectual betters on the left remind us that having a fancy college degree does not always equate to “smarts.” That was definitely the case Tuesday after Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) weighed in on the announcement by the FBI that a task force had been created specifically to investigate the violent attacks against Tesla showrooms.
On Monday, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the existence of the task force, posting on Twitter/X that “we have taken additional steps to crack down and coordinate our response. This is domestic terrorism. Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice.”
Said to be comprised of ATF personnel and members of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division, the news came amid disturbing reports of “incendiary devices” being found by a bomb squad at a Tesla dealership located in Austin, Texas.

Now Goldman, as we’ve noted before, would like for people to believe he’s the smartest man in the room, and he’s not shy about trying to prove the supposed point during any gathering that involves a captive audience.
He’s especially fond of touting his purported legal expertise, something that’s happened at Congressional hearings where he likes to lecture people on the legal definitions of the terms they use, which oftentimes results in him getting schooled in return by witnesses and committee colleagues alike as to the actual facts on the matter.
With that in mind, we turn to his fauxrage over the task force, which he – incredibly – equated to “political weaponization of the DOJ” and “lawfare”:
This is the political weaponization of the DOJ.
Trump uses his official authority to defend his benefactor Elon Musk.
The FBI then creates a task force to use our law enforcement to “crack down” on adversaries of Musk’s.
Where are the Republicans so opposed to “lawfare”? https://t.co/PZFbafcZ8V

Except this… isn’t “lawfare.” That should be pretty obvious to a self-styled “legal” expert like Goldman but others patiently explained it anyway:
Political weaponization is when you unleash the unlimited power and resources of the government to target your opponent, applying lawfare in an attempt to FIND a crime.
This IS crime and requires the power and resources of the government to investigate to attain justice, dummy. https://t.co/NHALG0hFRR

“Are you insane?” wrote another. “You believe it’s a waste of time for the FBI to track down domestic terrorists who are setting cars on fire, shooting at people and using incendiary devices against people and property? ATTN EVERYONE: Democrat Dan Goldman is now on record supporting terrorism.”
Yeah, I mean, he’s either ignorant (not likely) regarding the acts of arson and gunfire at Tesla locations, or he’s well aware they’re happening and still takes this position.
Either way, it’s not a good look and reminds me of the emerging media narrative that would have people believe that these dangerous attacks are free speech expressions protected by the First Amendment, as explained by MSNBC anchor Alicia Menendez after President Donald Trump said he believed what was happening was domestic terrorism.
“So, just to be clear, you protest a private company, you are labeled by this administration a domestic terrorist,” she stated at the time, as we previously reported, after playing a clip of Trump specficially declaring the acts of violence – not the protests – should be viewed as domestic terrorism.
Keep in mind that Democrat impeachment lawyer Goldman said on more than one occasion, as it related to the lawfare Democrats on up to the Biden administration were engaged in against Trump, that “no one is above the law.”
Does Dan Goldman, who once called for Trump to be “eliminated,” believe anti-Tesla terrorists are above the law? It sure sounds like it.
