The new political year started with a firehose of news and events on Capitol Hill. New members were sworn in, Mike Johnson held on to his speakership, Republican Sen. John Thune moved into the majority leader’s office, electoral votes were counted without the Capitol being stormed, and the nation said farewell to former President Jimmy Carter. CQ Roll Call photojournalists present the best photos of the 119th Congress so far.
