The New Orleans Saints (2-7) are back home in the dome this week to face one of their biggest rivals, the Atlanta Falcons (6-3) on Sunday afternoon in the Caesars Superdome.
They first played one another back on November 26, 1967, when the Saints defeated the Falcons 27-24 in Tulane Stadium. It was the Falcons’ second season and the Saints’ inaugural season in the NFL.
This Sunday will be the 111th time that these two franchises will face one another with only one of those matchups taking place during the playoffs, back in 1991, which saw the Falcons defeat the Saints 27-20.
The Falcons narrowly leads the series winning 56 games vs. New Orleans’ 55 games.
This will be their 2nd matchup of this season. The Falcons defeated the Saints back on September 29th, as kicker Younghoe Koo kicked a 58-yard field goal with just two seconds remaining in the game to put Atlanta ahead 26-24.
Kickoff is at noon and the game will be broadcast on FOX with Joe Davis (play-by-play), Greg Olsen (color analyst) and Pam Oliver (sideline)
