Scottish DJ Jack Revill, widely known by his stage name Jackmaster, has tragically passed away at the age of 38. The news of his untimely demise was announced by his family through an Instagram statement, revealing that Revill succumbed to complications arising from an accidental head injury in Ibiza, Spain on Saturday morning.

In their heartfelt message, Revill’s family expressed their profound grief, stating that they are utterly devastated by the loss. They also requested privacy during this difficult time. The statement highlighted Revill’s immense contributions to the electronic music community, both as a DJ and through his work at the Numbers label and Rubadub Records in Glasgow. His passion for music, relentless drive to push creative boundaries, and talent for blending genres made him a beloved and pioneering figure in the industry.

Born on January 11, 1986, in Glasgow, Scotland, Revill’s journey in music began during his teenage years when he worked at a record shop. His aspiration to become a professional DJ led him to adopt the stage name Jackmaster, a nod to the popular term coined in the Chicago house scene of the 1980s. As his career flourished, Revill left his job at the record shop and dedicated himself fully to DJing.

Revill’s talent and dedication earned him numerous accolades and opportunities. He performed at renowned clubs and festivals, secured a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix residency in 2014, and was honored with the Breakthrough DJ Award at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards in 2010. Additionally, he co-founded his own record label, Numbers, further solidifying his impact on the world of dance music.

However, Revill’s career was not without controversy. In 2018, he faced accusations of sexual assault while under the influence of GHB at the Love Saves the Day Festival in Bristol, UK. He later issued an apology and committed to making significant changes in his life. The festival and its staff, who were affected by Revill’s behavior, expressed their support for his efforts to address his actions and work towards personal growth.

Revill’s last Instagram post, dated September 27, showcased his gig at Hï Ibiza, where he described the atmosphere as “wicked.”
