Former ONE Championship flyweight champion Adriano Moraes returns for the first time in more than a year when he faces Danny Kingad in a rematch at the ONE 169 card scheduled in Atlanta on Nov. 8.

ONE Championship officials confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting on Thursday.

The matchup against Kingad serves as Moraes’ comeback fight after suffering back-to-back losses to Demetrious Johnson in they completion of their trilogy. Moraes pulled off a stunning knockout to beat Johnson and defend his ONE flyweight title back in 2021.

Johnson got revenge with a knockout of his own in the 2022 rematch, then defeated Moraes via unanimous decision in May 2023. Moraes hasn’t fought since that night.

He returns against Kingad, who’s been a mainstay of the ONE flyweight division since debuting with the promotion in 2016. Kingad fought Moraes in his fourth ONE appearance in 2017, but suffered a submission loss in the first round with the flyweight title up for grabs.

Following that loss, Kingad won his next six fights in a row before also falling to Johnson in the finals of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix in 2019. He’s gone 2-2 in four bouts since.

Now almost exactly seven years after they first met, Moraes and Kingad fight again in the second ONE Championship card in the United States in 2024 following an event scheduled in Denver in September.
