AtkinsRéalis UK and Ireland boss Richard Robinson is set to become head of the consultancy’s Asia, Middle East & Australia (AMEA) business, but will remain in the UK.

Robinson, also the deputy co-chair of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), will “frequently travel to offices and countries” within the region from his English base, an AtkinsRéalis spokesperson said.

Chris Ball, current chief operating officer of the consultancy’s nuclear business, has been named the new UK and Ireland president.

Both changes come into effect on Saturday (1 March).

Robinson, a trained chemical engineer, joined the then Atkins in 2019, having served in previous roles including HS2 chief operating officer and in senior positions at Aecom, BAA Heathrow and Anglo American.

He will continue to serve as CLC deputy co-chair, despite the move to the international role, which incorporates the company’s business in locations such as Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Australia.

“Richard will continue to be based in the UK and will remain deputy co-chair for CLC at this crucial time for construction and the UK economy,” the spokesperson said.

Ball has worked for the consultancy for more than 20 years, with 10 of those spent as managing director for energy in the UK & Europe.

AtkinsRéalis president and chief executive Ian Edwards said: “These internal appointments to lead two of our core regions reflect the strength and experience we have within AtkinsRéalis.”
