Despite strong performances from LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Atlanta Hawks in overtime by the final score of 134-132 on Friday night.

Trae Young overcame an inconsistent shooting night to stuff the stat sheet, finishing with 31 points and 20 assists. While he shot just 9-25 from the field, he hit a three-pointer that gave the Hawks a two-point lead with eight seconds remaining in overtime.

James and Davis combined to score 77 of Los Angeles’ 132 points, with both stars making their presence felt on the defensive end of the floor. This included a transition block by the NBA’s all-time leading scorer that briefly preserved a one-point lead in overtime.

As for Davis, he nearly ended the contest with a triple-double of his own. The 31-year-old scored 38 points, racking up 10 rebounds and eight assists despite turning the ball over six times.

Even though Los Angeles couldn’t secure a win, fans were still impressed with the duo.

LeBron & AD were great.

This defense is just not sustainable to win anything.
69 points at the half to Miami.
64 at the half to Atlanta.

Trying to outscore the other team every night is absolute hell.

Lakers got a 39-point triple-double from LeBron and 38, 10 and 8 from AD and still lost. Wow.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis combine for 77 points and both had good defensive games and they still lost

A gut punch loss for the Lakers here in Atlanta, falling 134-132 in OT, after a couple late game miscues haunt them. LeBron’s 39 pts, 11 ast, 10 reb, 3 blk and AD’s 38 pts, 10 reb, 8 ast, 2 blk isn’t enough to stop their skid as LAL’s leaders also combined for 10 turnovers.

Reg @REGGIES_WORLD

Lebron & AD both went supernova tonight & it still wasn’t enough.

Crazy! lol

Grant Shirley @Grant_Shirley4

I know the Lakers have been brutal lately, but it is incredibly difficult to beat them when both LeBron and AD play like the way they did tonight

Great win by the Hawks

GoldenKnight @GoldenKnightGFX

I don’t want to hear that LeBron is washed & the duo isn’t worth putting talent around. Clearly they’re not the issue as some try to make it be.

The Lakers suffered their third straight loss, falling to 12-11 on the season as a whole.

Meanwhile, Atlanta improved to 13-11.
