ABC’s top announcing crew will call SEC Championship Game between Texas and Georgia
ABC is sending its ‘A-Team’ to call the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta on Saturday. The SEC’s sole television/streaming media partner is Disney’s ABC and ESPN.
Of course that means the company’s best will be in the booth for the culmination of Texas’ first year in the SEC. Disney was instrumental in facilitating the Horns’ move to the SEC.
The television commentators for the Georgia-Texas rematch will be Chris Fowler (play-by-play), Kirk Herbstreit (analyst), Laura Rutledge (sideline) and Holly Rowe (sideline). Fowler and Herbstreit have been ESPN’s top crew for a long time, calling the last ten national title games in a row together.
This will be the fourth Texas game the top team have called this season. Fowler and Herbstreit were previously in the booth for UT’s games against Oklahoma, Georgia and Texas A&M.
In addition, ESPN’s College GameDay will be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to preview the matchup. This will be the fourth Texas game this season the popular Saturday morning preview show be at.
It is unknown whether ESPN will choose a guest picker with Texas ties, Georgia ties or someone neutral. This could also be one of the final appearances by famed GameDay analyst Lee Corso.
