What we learned from Saints win over the Falcons
Interim head coach Darren Rizzi started his head coaching career 1-0 against the Atlanta Falcons. The New Orleans Saints held a strong lead throughout the game, but the Falcons fought back to make it close.
Rizzi Ball is entertaining
Saints football was hard to watch during their seven-game losing streak. It’s one thing to lose, but it’s another to lose and be hard to watch. That changed on Sunday. The energy inside the building from fans and players was on par with that after their two-game winning streak. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi may not be the guy to take over for the Saints in the future, but a change from former head coach Dennis Allen was needed.
Rizzi has a high level of intensity and fire behind him, which he coaches with. Players love Rizzi and he’s someone who can motivate. After the win, players huddled around the interim head coach hyping him up as he pushed players around in excitement.
The pope’s blessings worked
The Saints got off lucky. Falcons sure-fire kicker Younghoe Koo was 1/4 on field goal attempts on Sunday, missing two on his own and having one blocked. With the Saints only winning by three, maybe the pope’s recent blessings for the Saints on Twitter/X gave the team the boost they needed.
The #Saints are precious pearls and are always living and relevant, because they provide a fascinating commentary on the Gospel. Their lives are an illustration of the Good News that Jesus brought to humanity: God is our Father, who loves everyone with boundless love.

Alontae Taylor has a long way to go
Cornerback Alontae Taylor is the Saints’ future at cornerback, but he has a way to go before he can matchup with former All-Pro Marshon Lattimore, who the Saints traded at the deadline. Taylor was called for three penalties on Sunday extending drives for Atlanta. Along with the penalties, Taylor was picked on by veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. New Orleans’ secondary is in desperate need of a player to step up for them and the hope is the former Tennessee Vol will be that player.
