Two individuals have been apprehended in Austria for their alleged involvement in a plot to attack a Taylor Swift concert, as reported by Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung and confirmed by Austrian officials. The first suspect, a 19-year-old Austrian citizen with North Macedonian roots residing in Ternitz, was arrested under strong suspicion of terrorism. The individual had reportedly become radicalized online and had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group. Chemical substances were discovered and are currently being evaluated by authorities, although further details have not been disclosed.

The second arrest took place in Vienna, although no additional information has been provided by city officials at this time. In response to these developments, security measures for the upcoming Taylor Swift concerts at the Ernst-Happel stadium have been heightened. Franz Ruf, the public security director at Austria’s interior ministry, stated that preparatory actions for a potential attack had been detected, with a specific focus on the Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna.

Vienna police chief Gerhard Pürstl emphasized that while the concrete danger has been minimized, the presence of an abstract risk justifies the increased security measures. Concertgoers are advised to allocate additional time for entry checks. The Vienna tourist board had previously announced that all three of Swift’s concerts at the Ernst-Happel stadium were sold out.
