GCEX, a digital
broker that provides a digital asset and forex platform to institutional and
professional clients, has hired Maria Alberghini, a former Business Development
Executive at Ebury, as its Sales Manager in Dubai. She joins GCEX after over
a year of serving Ebury in Dubai.

GCEX, which disclosed
Alberghini’s appointment on Thursday on LinkedIn, noted that the executive will
work closely with Mehtap Önder, Managing Director Dubai, on the company’s
strategic growth plans.

Alberghini brings
about a decade of sales and business development experience to the new role.
Before Ebury, she worked as a Global Business Development Executive at
Limelight Networks between April 2019 and March 2021.

Between March 2018
and March 2019, she was the Business Development Manager at ITHR Telco, the
specialist telecommunications recruitment arm of the ITHR Group. Earlier, she served
consultancy company, ESCAPE Networks, as a Business Development Executive for
over two years.

In addition,
Alberghini worked as a Sales Consultant at Vanquis Bank between April 2014 and
January 2016, helping to sell banking products such as credit cards and
loans. Moreover, one of Alberghini’s
earliest roles was as an Assistant Director of Government Relations for Europe,
Middle East and Africa at ProMexico, the Mexican Government institution in
charge of strengthening Mexico’s participation in the international economy.

In recent months,
GCEX has taken steps to boost its business. Earlier this month, the digital
broker partnered with Komainu, a digital asset
custody provider, to expand its custody services. Komainu is a joint company
established by Nomura and two other leading digital assets firms.

In July last year,
GCEX also introduced round-the-clock forex trading to its institutional
and professional clients. The service was mirrored after the company’s 24/7
cryptocurrency trading services.

In the same month,
the company expanded into Middle East and Africa
(MENA)
with the opening of a Dubai office and appointed Mehtap Önder as
the Managing Director of GECX MENA. It also gained two Danish licenses in June 2022 to
strengthen its operation in the European Union markets.

To strengthen its
business, GCEX in recent months made new appointments, including Olivier Honsberger as a Member of the
GCEX MENA Board, Marilu Revelli as Marketing
Director and Alex Iakobachvili as Business
Development VP.
