Mariah Carey’s Atlanta Home Reportedly Burglarized While She Was on Vacation

Mariah Carey had a dreamy summer vacation, but she returned to a nightmare after her Atlanta home was reportedly burglarized while she was out of town.

In July the pop star visited Italy with her boyfriend, Bryan Tanaka, and her twins, Monroe and Moroccan. She then flew to a $20 million mansion in the Hamptons to enjoy some relaxing time on the water with her family, according to Page Six. During that time, Page Six reported, her other home was broken into. Police confirmed the incident to the outlet, but added that as “this is still an open investigation, the information may be limited.” It is still unknown what exactly was taken from the property, but the burglary was reported to police on July 27, per Page Six.

Carey’s posts on Instagram documenting her overseas vacation may have been what first tipped off thieves that her Georgia home was empty. On July 25 she also posted on social media to promote the real estate company Nest Seekers International, which she said helped her find a Hamptons rental property. “Out East for the week, soaking it all in,” she wrote. According to Page Six, the Water Mill, Long Island, compound she ultimately chose to stay at is currently on the market for $20 million and cost her “over six figures” for a two-week stay. Carrie Underwood also reportedly stayed in the home last summer. Real estate broker Shawn Elliott told the New York Post last month, “We showed Mariah a number of homes for rent for her two-week stay in the Hamptons. She chose Eagle’s Point because of the insane 280-degree views.”

According to Page Six, Mariah Carey purchased her Atlanta mansion in November 2021 for $5.65 million via a trust using the same name as a number of Carey’s other properties and business interests. According to Dirt, the nearly 13,000-square-foot Southern colonial home is located on 4.2 acres in the upscale Sandy Springs, a suburb of Atlanta; the estate boasts nine bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a huge kitchen, a gym, a movie theater, and “acres of white marble.” Outside, the property also features a swimming pool and pool house bordered by woodlands, a guest apartment, a children’s playground, and—a true Carey-approved touch—a driveway “in the vague shape of a heart,” per Dirt. The mansion was previously leased by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who, Dirt points out, pulled the home’s wrought-iron gates out of the ground in 2020 after a power outage left him trapped inside the property when he needed to make it to set on time.
